In case you’re planning your next trip to Austria, you should definitely not miss Lake Woerthersee in Carinthia.
Especially in late Spring and Summer this Region blooms and you can enjoy endless Sunset Views in Rainbow Colors.
We’ve been visiting Lake Woerthersee again this May for a prolonged weekend and I promise you this trip is so worth it: from stylish gourmet restaurants, chill-out lakeside terraces, cute cafés and bistros to cool events and trendy sports facilities you can find everything your heart desires. Definitely a unique stage for your dream vacation with loads of picturesque photo locations around the lake.
My absolute favorite spots (depending on what you’re looking for), you’ll find listed below:
Bistro Südsee: A charming small South Pacific Style Bistro with the best view on the South Side of Lake Woerthersee and even direct access to the lake. It’s a casual style restaurant for a calming lunch break, a romantic dinner or even a delicious and stylish sundowner. They offer a variety of Summer Dishes and Cocktails.
Bistro Seensucht: My personal highlight for a romantic dinner or a breakfast with family or friends celebrating a special occasion. The whole service team is so kind and courteous. In case you are a wine lover, this is your place to be – as this bistro is specialized in regional food and wine. You can choose between a dinner with or without wine pairing and breakfast is served on an étagère.
Gourmet Restaurant Hubert Wallner: This top notch restaurant is known for its excellent Corinthian & Mediterranean Cuisine by Top Chef Hubert Wallner, who can be proud of his various international distinctions, such as Rolling Pin Chef of the Year 2019 and Gault&Millau Chef of the Year 2020.
Here you can enjoy the perfect multi-course business lunch or dinner including a huge international wine palette and cocktails on a lovely roof terrace with an incredible view. You can even come here with a boat taxi from your hotel or arrive with your own boat at the small marina of Bistro Südsee.
Beach Café Weisses Rössl: In case you’re looking for an afternoon coffee and cake during your bike ride break or as a hiking stop, this is a small and unconventional snack location with a very local and traditional flair. A very hang loose, comfy atmosphere, where locals mix with tourists. This café also has direct access to the beach and there is a public bathing beach house right next to it. Locals come here for a sunset snack or sundowner after stopping by with their sailing/motor boat or during a sports’ break.
