… only 4h 30 mins from Salzburg, 5h 30 mins from Vienna and 6h from Munich lies the beautiful Hilton Rijeka Costabella Beach Resort & Spa. It seems as if you’re driving towards Sunshine, Ocean and when you’ve spent the first night there, you’ll feel like you’ve arrived in Heaven.

As we’ve visited during end of November, beginning of December, we’ve taken a look at both cities and their lovely Christmas Markets. I can truly recommend walking along the promenade towards Opatija. If it’s too long for you, you can also go by car to Opatija Old Town and then walk even further towards Icici on Kvarner Bay.
Opatija truly reminds oneself of the legendary Austrian-Hungarian Monarchy, as the buildings are very similar in architecture and the coffee shops offer famous Sacher Torte.
The only thing different to Austria is the lovely ocean right next to the promenade and the much warmer climate. You can really feel the difference of a 4h 30 mins drive.
Also in Spring and Summer, the atmosphere is lovely there. Along the promenades of Kvarner Bay, you’ll find loads of super cute restaurants and bars with a natural ocean swimming pool area. So you can enjoy your drinks while sunbathing and swimming in the ocean.
What’s also exciting about the Hilton Rijeka Costabella Beach Resort & Spa is not only the architecture and location, but also the extremely friendly staff and the amazing food. You’ll have a wonderful buffet breakfast at The Kitchen Restaurant (where you can also have dinner) or you can choose to have something very exclusive at Rijeka’s first MICHELIN-starred Restaurant Nebo by Deni Srdoč. Here you do not only get food served, but art. Wonderful creations of unique ingredients are served to international guests.

Zwischen Himmel und Meer
… so fühlt man sich definitiv, wenn man 4h 30 min Richtung Sonnenschein fährt!
Unglaublich wie viel diese Fahrtzeit ausmacht – nicht nur von dem Temperaturunterschied, sondern auch vom steigenden Gemütszustand!
Der wunderschöne in meeresblau gehüllte Architekturkomplex liegt nicht nur direkt am Meer, sondern erinnert auch rein visuell an eine Welle. Ich kann euch nur ans Herz legen unbedingt (egal zu welcher Jahreszeit ihr dort in der Kvarner Bucht zu Besuch seid), dass ihr entlang der wunderschönen Meerespromenade geht.
Das Hilton Rijeka Costabella Beach Resort & Spa liegt inmitten des lebendigen Rijeka und des nostalgisch-romantischen Opatija.
Wenn man zwei Nächte beispielsweise dort ist, kann man sich beide Orte ohne Probleme ansehen und die Unterschiede genießen.
In der Altstadt von Opatija erinnern die Häuser und die Cafés an die Österreichisch-Ungarische Monarchie. Ein Weg entlang der unglaublich schönen Promenade zahlt sich zu jeder Jahreszeit aus. Im Winter findet dort auch der Adventmarkt direkt am Meer statt und im Sommer tummeln sich die Leute bei Kaffee und Kuchen oder Drinks und Snacks bei den natürlichen Meeres-Swimmingpools. Unglaublich toll!
Aber auch im Hotel werdet ihr nicht nur von der Architektur beeindruckt sein (die man besonders schön von Opatija aus sehen kann), sondern auch vom sooo freundlichen Personal und dem extrem leckeren Frühstücksbuffet und Essen generell.
Man hat hier die Auswahl zwischen dem Restaurant The Kitchen oder dem ersten Michelin Stern ausgezeichneten Restaurant von Rijeka namens Nebo, welches sich im Dachgeschoss des Hotelkomplexes befindet. Hier wird nicht nur Essen serviert, sondern Kunst zelebriert und der unsagbar schöne Meeresblick trägt hier natürlich auch nochmals zur Glücklichkeit bei.
